Yes, it’s normal and expected for the probe to feel warm during use.
Because the probe is a small, handheld, wireless device with all the powerful imaging processing built inside, it can warm up during use, similar to how a smartphone gets warm when running power-intensive apps.
Probe temperature & safety:
The probe’s temperature is carefully monitored at all times. It stays well within safe operating limits for both the user and the patient, and the probe will automatically shut down well below the maximum safe temperature.
Operating time varies based on:
- Ambient Temperature: warmer environments may shorten usage time
- Start temperature: A cooler probe lasts longer
- Preset or mode being used
- Continuous use vs short scanning intervals
What to expect:
-
At least 10 minutes of uninterrupted scanning in most cases
-
Often longer sessions depending on conditions
We are also continually optimizing the probe software and the Vave app to improve performance and extend continuous scanning time.
Tips for getting the best experience:
-
If possible, turn the probe off between scans to give it time to cool down
-
The probe will cool faster in a cooler environment, so keep it out of direct sunlight to hasten cooling
-
If the probe shuts down, simply let it cool down completely before next use
-
For longer scanning sessions, you can enable Eco Mode, which helps extend scanning time by reducing power use. Eco Mode slightly lowers image quality, but it’s designed to give you extra scanning time when needed
